WHAT YOU CAN DO:
During, before, and after the National Learn & Serve Challenge, submit a written article to your school or organization’s newsletter or website to highlight a person/group, a specific service-learning activity, or to provide general information about service-learning.

You can also send information about the Challenge to your email distribution list.

HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT:
  1. Check with the school’s newsletter and website editors about their submissions processes.
  2. Spotlight service-learning in general, a past or current service-learning project, an individual student or groups of students, or the National Learn & Serve Challenge.
  3. Feature web links to important service-learning sites, including the Learn and Serve Challenge.
  4. Include the Challenge logo and web banner to any submissions.
  5. Consider placing a series of short blurbs and announcements leading up to the Challenge in October. For example, in April, announce the Challenge and invite participants to join a local planning committee. Over the summer, feature a testimonial from a young person or community member that has benefited from service-learning.
In September, remind readers of the importance of service-learning as students return to school and preview upcoming events or activities scheduled for the Challenge. In October, feature a prominent story with pictures about your Challenge event or activities and your service-learning goals for the year.
