WHAT YOU CAN DO:
During the National Learn & Serve Challenge, sponsor a “BE A SOLUTION” button or T-shirt day at your school or organization to show your service-learning pride.

Use buttons and t-shirts to help build unity with those serving and raise visibility of the great work that young people are doing everyday through service-learning. It is a great chance for youth to talk about their service-learning experience when they are asked why they are wearing a Learn & Serve Challenge Shirt and/or button.

HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT:

Step 1. Designate the day that your school or organization will be wearing your Learn & Serve Challenge or other service-learning gear.

Step 2. Order buttons and/or t-shirts in advance from the Learn & Serve Challenge Online Store so that they are delivered in time for your event. Email nslp@aed.org to request to receive the logo so you can make your own t-shirts, buttons, or stickers to cut down expenses. Use “Challenge Logo” as the subject line of your message.

Step 3. Take a group picture of young people wearing their t-shirts and/or buttons that can be shared with the media, along with a press release.

Step 4. Schedule an announcement through your school or organization to declare that your school or organization has taken the Learn & Serve Challenge.

FUN IDEAS:
  • Youth can hold a fundraiser and charge more than the cost of the shirts (for example: if a shirt cost $5.00 to buy, sell it for $7.00) and sell them to peers, community members, parents and volunteers
  • Classrooms or community groups can compete with one another to wear the most Learn & Serve Challenge buttons or shirts.
